Instead of having your dream clients scroll past your pins, this blog post will uncover what you need on Pinterest to book clients! Walk away with the resources you need, including the very first step you should take, to start booking clients on Pinterest as soon as possible. You deserve to have your pins working for you, so let’s dive in together!
Yes! It is 100% possible for YOU to book clients from Pinterest!
Let me guess, you’ve been pinning your photos onto Pinterest whenever you have the extra time, and even though you can tell people see your content, you haven’t gotten a single serious inquiry.
Or you’re trying to decide whether or not you should get started with Pinterest marketing because you’re not sure if it’s worth your time and energy?
After working with photographers on Pinterest for the past couple of years, I know exactly what you need to turn your Pinterest views into inquiries.
And it might require more strategy than you think…
Because Pinterest is such a powerful tool for marketing, it is a common misconception that copy and pasting (or autopublishing) your Instagram content and sharing your portfolio will automatically start attracting your audience.
But just having an account on Pinterest and sharing your beautiful images doesn’t mean that you’re set up properly to attract and book clients.
You need to consistently reach your audience and provide them with value! (Don’t worry, I’ll tell you how!) In order for your Pinterest audience to inquire with you, they need to be able to find you AND you need to provide them with what they looking for.
There are millions of users on Pinterest, but not all of them are your ideal target audience! This is when keywords come into play. A pin without strategic keywords will get lost in the void, and we want your pins to be placed directly in front of your target audience!
The goal isn’t to try and reach everyone. You are more likely to get inquiries from thousands of the right people instead of hundreds of thousands of the wrong target audience!
In order to consistently reach your target audience, you need to use specific keywords. Instead of assuming what your audience is looking for, research what phrases they are using! Then, place these keywords in your boards, titles, descriptions, etc. in sentence format to tell Pinterest exactly who your pins are for. Especially use keywords with city names, your state, and venue locations!

Now that you are reaching your audience, you need to provide them with value! Without value, don’t expect to get inquiries from your pins. Value is a key part in increasing your bookings from Pinterest.
Pinterest users are searching for ideas and inspiration, so you need to provide them with what they are looking for! You can provide value by supporting their vision, leading them to a helpful resource (blog post, freebie, etc.), and communicating how you’re a perfect fit. Take the basics, and then go a little deeper.
Here’s what that could look like for you:
If they are looking for a wedding photographer at a specific venue, your pin showcases what their wedding day could look like! Then, your description invites them to check out your gallery blog to see more details of the wedding day or you describe part of your client experience. Show that you know how to bring their vision to life!
Whether you’re leading your audience to a blog post, podcast, or a freebie, you are building trust with your audience! Your pin sparked their interest, and now you are showing them that you are an expert.
When you’re creating a pin, don’t only focus on describing the pin itself. Provide how YOU are the best photographer for them. While it isn’t the main focus of your pin description, you can briefly describe your style or mention your values.
Now you know that you need to reach your audience and provide them value, but this is the key factor to start booking clients:
Sell your services!
Instead of only putting your IG posts and portfolio on Pinterest to inspire others, sell your services to them! Invite your audience to work with you. At the end of your pin description, ask them to book with you! It can be as simple as, “Can you see yourself getting married here? Book with (your name) at (your website) to capture your beach elopement!”
Don’t underestimate an invitation to work with you!
Now, before you start panicking that this all sounds really confusing and you just want inquiries to magically start appearing (wouldn’t that be great?), this is what you are going to do FIRST.
Start including a location specific keyword in every single pin title and description.
This will get your content in front of the right people! After you start reaching the right people, you can focus on what value you are providing and selling your services.
