Taking a Gap Year

Once I graduated from high school, I felt stuck. I had no idea what the next chapter of my life was going to look like, so I decided to take a gap year to find some clarity on what I wanted to do. During this time, I had a passion for photography and even started taking photos of my friends! This was when I heard about Pinterest Management and how beneficial it could be for photographers. Becoming a Pinterest Manager was an absolute no brainer for me!

With my passion for business and entrepreneurship, I decided to go for it. I took a leap of faith and haven’t looked back since. I love the idea of being able to support people who share my passion for photography while also getting creative with my entrepreneurial spirit, thus Avery Strickland LLC was born!

What is a Pinterest Manager?

So, what is a Pinterest Manager anyway? A Pinterest Manager specializes in helping businesses and creators promote their content, products, portfolios, and services on Pinterest. Many Pinterest Managers typically set up accounts, design pins, write pin titles and descriptions, schedule pins, analyze how well their client’s pins are performing, and ensure their client’s content is search engine optimized for visibility.

As someone who already loved Pinterest, being able to support businesses like this sounded like A DREAM!

And I was determined to turn it into my reality.

The First 6 Months of Avery Strickland LLC

When I decided to go for it and register for an LLC in 2022, I promised myself that I would work as hard as I ever had for the next 6 months, and if nothing had changed, then I could quit. But I’ve never been a quitter, not ever.

It’s actually something people notice about me, and my tenacity is the entire reason I somehow managed to get a job at the age of 15 when I wasn’t technically even old enough for one yet (it’ll be our little secret lol). I made that promise to myself knowing if I worked that hard, it was almost guaranteed to go somewhere.

Family started asking me how I was so sure of myself to just dive in headfirst and not look back. My response was always: the only way my business could fail is if I stopped trying. That was a guarantee I clung to, knowing I was the only obstacle standing in my way, and if something happened, I’d just start all over again and build it from the ground up. It really brought me peace knowing I could rely on myself and my determination to succeed. It made me feel more secure than any other job I’ve ever had.

How to Get Through the Hardships of Entrepreneurship

“Choose your hard.” is a quote that really helped me through the hardships of starting a business. It basically implies that anything you do outside of your comfort zone is hard, but so is staying in your comfort zone and wishing you could do more.

In this instance, starting a business with nothing was hard, but so was being stuck working a 9-5 for the rest of my life. Both paths were hard, but one of them led to my dream life, so I took it. Whenever entrepreneurship would get hard, I would remind myself of this!

The Turning Point in My Business

The turning point for my business where I went from having one client to receiving inquiries on a consistent basis was investing into people who could add value to my business. Before, I had no idea how to run an organized business, which steps to take, how to really do anything. I had the passion, but needed direction.

My first investment was my Pinterest mentor (and it was life changing for me and my business!). I needed someone I trusted to give me actionable steps to take, so I found a mentor who had been in my shoes and built a successful business for herself. She had the life I wanted, and I was ready to learn exactly how she did it. Within a week, I was booking more clients and seeing traction I’d never seen before. It was literally an overnight transformation.

Where My Pinterest Management Business is Now

Now, I have a team of 4+ amazing women helping me run this business, and I couldn’t do it without them! I work with amazing photographers, and I feel so honored to work so closely with such incredible, talented people. While my Pinterest and blogging services support them to earn their freedom back and make time for the things that they love, they are helping me do the same. Without their referrals, feedback, and support, my business wouldn’t be where it is today! In a few years I went from being a Pinterest freelancer to an agency owner, and I’m so thankful for my community in making it possible.

Tips I Recommend for Aspiring Pinterest Managers

Tip 1: Take the Leap of Faith!

If you want to become a Pinterest Manager, GO ALL IN! Remember, “Choose your hard.”

Do you want to face the hardship of stepping out of your comfort zone to try something new that you might love, or do you want to choose the hard of staying in your comfort zone and wishing you could do more?

Both are hard. It’s up to you, friend.

Tip 2: Give Yourself 6 Months

With 6 months of dedicated, disciplined hard work, you’ll be amazed at the growth and experience you’ll gain! Even if you’re currently working a 9-5 and are starting to grow your Pinterest Management business in your spare time, you might (and it’s very likely!) be able to be a full-time Pinterest Manager working remotely at your favorite local coffee shop in 6 months. You’ll quickly realize how impactful working inside of your business can be when you limit your distractions and prioritize action steps that book you clients.

Tip 3: Invest into Your Business

Investing into my business has been my holy grail for success, and is the entire reason I will forever shout from the rooftops that outsourcing is key to scaling your business! Take it from me, someone who had nothing and made it into something, that outsourcing is the whole reason I got there. Learning from others and becoming a sponge for any information they offer is what’s going to separate you from the businesses that fail!

You got this.
